If all goes well this weekend, my boyfriend and I will have signed a lease on our first apartment together. And in celebration, I’ll be running out to snap up this darling little rug. I refuse to believe that a rented apartment is any less a home than a purchased one, and judging by this rug’s message, neither do the folks at Urban Outfitters.

As I’ve documented here and here, I’m eagerly anticipating the big move. I’ve suddenly become hyper aware of decorating ideas, and take inspiration from absolutely everywhere, which is what happened when I was trolling Urban Outfitters’ website for marked-down accessories. Given that we’ll likely be short on closet space, I’ve got my eye on this darling wall rack for coats so we can free up enough room for all my clothes. The simple message and charming color are perfect together on a bare wall, and also add that always-important touch of whimsy I’m tirelessly seeking.

Earlier in the week, I wrote about my curious affection for these adorable little owl candles. This, in turn, has sparked a budding new obsession with them.
Bills will never go unnoticed when perched on this little guy.
Such a sweet little necklace at an even sweeter price.
I could probably even train my boyfriend to hang up his coat on a hook as charming as this one.
I love nothing more than a big, bold ring. It’s even better when it’s of my new favorite animal.
When the weekend rolls around, I’m happiest at home, tending to my to-do’s that have taken a backseat to my busy weekdays and nights. This weekend is no different, with my task list growing by the day, and while I certainly take pride in my attention to the little things, it’s my playlists that keep me going through the day. Changing my sheets and organizing my clothes/dirty laundry/new spring clothes is so much more fun with music to set the pace.
I’ve had the same set of speakers now for 4 years and they’re starting to lose their magic, so I’ve got my eye on a couple new systems just in case of an emergency. The contradiction of vintage design and modern technology strike a very pleasant cord with me, and I’d love nothing more than to stash one by my bedside. I adore the one from Vers (above), but would settle for either of the two below if I want to keep my budget on the lower end.
Like all mythical beings, I thought the perfect leather jacket didn’t exist under $150. But then again, life surprises you every day, just as it did when I was browsing through Urban Outfitters this weekend. What’s not to love about this Silence & Noise bomber jacket? The price is right ($138), the cut is classic, and no animals were harmed in its making.
Most friends I know struggle with a common problem of finding furniture to fit small living rooms. Even more problematic is finding affordable, stylish pieces. This chair is a perfect example of how a simple chair can pack a big punch in interior design. The armless design won’t take up a ton of space and the ikat print makes a bold statement without overwhelming your room.

A dear friend of mine recently moved apartments in Manhattan, and I’ve been on the hunt for a practical and stylish housewarming present. Because she’s got limited space (it’s New York – nobody has enough space!) and two roommates, I can’t go overboard on price or size (even though she deserves the moon!). I’ve made a few choices and think the selection below manages to nail my quest for the perfect gift. Everything is under $15, perfectly cheeky, and available at Urban Outfitters stores and online.
The other day I ran out of contact lenses and wound up wearing my nerdy glasses that I save for bedtime hours and occasional allergy flare-ups. But it caused quite a stir with friends I haven’t seen in a long time, who adored my suddenly geek-chic look. Turns out, my ripped up jeans, men’s T-shirt and Old Navy flip flops reach a new level of chic with a pair of dark-rimmed glasses topping it all off.
Their raves inspired me to go out and buy another pair of glasses from Urban Outfitters. Perfectly retro, yet sweetly nerdish enough to pull off the innocent school charm of days gone by, I plan to wear these long into the fall and winter when I’m feeling uninspired to accessorize with gusto. Available in black and tortoiseshell for $14, they’re such an affordable way to add some flair without a lot of effort.
