Back to my roots.

September 2nd, 2010 by Ruth

As a former Wilhelmina model and constant Swarovski crystal lover, I think it’s only fair that I share the below Fashion’s Night Out invite with you.

Get the chance to meet the uber-talented, Grammy nominated artist, Estelle and chic celebrity stylist, Laura Lightbody at Swarovski’s Madison Avenue & 58th St. boutique.

You’ll have a chance to sip champagne and enjoy decadent Vosges Haut-chocolat. Plus, you could win some FAB prizes. Not too shabby!

Susan, former agent, will you be there?

Mom's Swarvoski earrings

I was seriously obsessing over a pair of Swarvoski earrings I saw at the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets and for about five minutes, my mother and I discussed whether or not the $90 set was worth the purchase. About two seconds before justifying the unneccessary splurge, my mom remembered she had a pair of Swarvoski earrings that she wore to my Bat Mitzvah, which was over ten years ago! I instantly remembered the gaudy pineapple-looking gems and reluctantly rode my mother’s wave of enthusiasm all the way home to her jewelry box.

She excitedly pulled them from the wooden jewelry box and enthusiastically encouraged me that despite their size and design, I could pull them off. With confidence and poise, I decided to wear the bigger than life baubles and paired them with a sea green dress I was planning on wearing to a wedding.

Surprisingly enough, I felt like a queen as I finished putting the earrings on. Because of the unique cut of the crystal, the earrings pick up and reflect whatever color is being worn and with my long hair and neck, I was able to pull them off. You know what they say, “Never judge a book by it’s cover” – the least you can do is try it on for size!
