Citrus warfare.

March 22nd, 2010 by Catherine

thumbs_neutrogena-acne-wash_0I’ve been under a little more stress than usual, and its nasty side effects have cropped up all over my face. Well, not all over, but still – the three pimples I’m sporting are not welcome to stay through the week, especially with a big business meeting looming ahead. I was out of my usual face wash, so on Friday, I picked up Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Pink Grapefruit Acne Wash Facial Cleanser. The lengthy name does a great job of summing up exactly what it does, which is scare these blemishes into submission, all while smelling faintly of sweet citrus. I’ve washed my face with it all through the weekend, and already I’ve noticed a whole lot of shrinkage.

Makeup Breakup: When a consumer and product are forced apart.

Gone, but not forgotten.

Gone, but not forgotten.

I fully understand how the beauty industry works, having worked in it myself for over five years. I still, however, can’t help but feel devastated when a brand takes one of my makeup bag staples off the market. I went hunting for my favorite mascara, Neutrogena’s Clean Tint, this weekend, only to find that store shelves are now void of the once-stocked product. I’m horrified it might be gone for good, so to be safe, I’m going on a hunt to stock up. Here’s why I love it so much:

  1. Its super-light formula goes on without clumping or making my eyelashes look spiky.
  2. It doesn’t smudge under my eyes like other formulas I’ve tried. I won’t name names, but I’ve been very dissappointed with some super-hyped brands.
  3. It makes my eyelashes look suuuuuper long in an I-grew-them-myself kind of way.
  4. It cost me $6 per tube, which kept my lashes lengthened and beautified for over 3 months.

Ladies (and gents) – if you stumble across any leftovers anywhere, keep a girl informed over here!

Turn around, bright eyes.

Bright eyes.

Lovely lashes.

I tend to save the va-va-voom effect for nighttime, opting for a much more subtle approach to makeup for the day-to-day. My choice of mascara for my 9-5? Neutrogena’s Clean Lash Tint. At $7, it’s a total steal, but it does so much more than just save me money – it darkens and lengthens my lashes, making them look super defined and, in the process, making me look wide awake, no matter how much sleep I got.
