What’s missing?

February 18th, 2011 by Ruth

Absolutely nothing! I punched up the first warmer day this season with my bright Tucker for Target dress and amped it up with a brown hounds tooth stocking, brown metallic shoes from Aerosoles, a blue wool cardigan from J.Crew and wool animal print cape from Target. You dig?

Grounded.

Pops.

November 11th, 2010 by Ruth

It was so nice to take a walk to Washington Square park with Court + Hudson and Casey Culture. I finally brought out a pair of pants my mother would be happy to see resurface. I’m obsessed with the J.Crew shirt and sweater. Lately, I’ve been wearing the sweater to bed. The Nine West flats are not only comfortable, but provide a nice pop of color to the overall look.

In jest.

Clearly, you can see that I have an affinity for purple and green. One day, I woke up, and everything in my closet was a hue appropriate for a jester’s or queen’s closet. I’m talking from hats to socks and sneakers. At least I’ve muted the palette a bit with my favorite brown J.Crew boots. Almost forgot to mention, the blue dress is Charter Club, and I purchased it for maybe $20. It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it!

The red door.

October 21st, 2010 by Ruth

The vibrancy of the red door against the distressed green Banana Republic dress sweeps me away to an afternoon in the country. I’m eating a fluffy egg white omelet with fresh goat cheese and herbs from Mario Batali’s Eataly. The antique aesthetic of the door tricks me into thinking the door opens to a country kitchen furnished with raw wood chairs and an over sized table with claw feet; I’m eating my brunch off of heavy ceramic white dishware ala Christiane Lemieux Shabby Chic; drinking my mimosa from a Mason jar; all while the occasional waft of fresh lavender drifts through my nose, reinvigorating my senses.

Bonded.

These images are from a photo shoot with Casey Carter of Casey Culture on Bond Street at Lafayette. I love the charm of the brick streets and how the color of them matches the gray Calvin Klein dress. I’ve had this dress for some years now and it’s become my go-to when I want to be comfortable yet stylish. I like to pair muted colors with a pattern and lately, I’ve become fond of animal prints — the Charter Club cardigan was a perfect match. I purchased it for under $20 at Macy’s. The wellies are from British company, Wedge Welly. They’re incredibly comfortable and have a cute little wedge that makes you feel a bit sexier than the average rain boot does. The necklace is one of my favorites – a smart $50 purchase at the J.Crew outlet store, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn it. I pair it with just about anything when I want to spice up an outfit and feel a bit more sophisticated.
