After an incredible cultural experience at Bonnaroo and some time off from blogging, I feel inspired although, I know, you wouldn’t be able to tell from my choice in clothing. For whatever reason, I find myself wearing all white, all the time. Anyways, my go-to jeans are my white straight-leg Zara’s. I love this cozy summer white sweater from Gap, which I got on sale for $30. I scored this scarf from a vintage store in the East Village and my INC wedges on sale from Macys. I guess my MAC Carthage lips and Essie toes can represent my inspiration. More TK.

November 8th, 2010 by RuthI’ve always been a proponent of the phrase, “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, too”. While this refers to waste management, I’ve applied it to my closet. I’ve had this coat for over five years and when the lining became holier than my security blanket, I replaced it with this gorgeous purple fabric, bought from a fabric shop in Chinatown. I acquired the Gap sweater in a clothing swap; the corduroys are the result of a smart J.Crew Factory purchase; and the shoes were purchased at a Prada outlet in Tuscany. Last but not least, the J.Crew pave bracelet was borrowed from Ms. Eileen Dautruche of Miss Whoever You Are. So while my milk cartons and glass jars might not make it in the right bin, my clothing is always recycled.
All dressed up, with plenty of places to go.
March 16th, 2010 by CatherineAs summer approaches, so does my anticipation of wearing nothing but simple dresses and skirts all season long. It makes getting dressed such a snap. Choose a dress, choose your shoes, throw on a couple bracelets, and you’re out the door. I’ve already got my eye on these picks for summer 2010, which is quickly booking up with vacations and mini trips.
A simple tank dress should be every woman’s go-to piece for its simple elegance. The racerback design is hugely flattering, and the length is ideal for days when you don’t want to show a lot of leg.
This design is straight from my mother’s closet in the 80s, which instantly makes me feel nostalgic. I’m obsessed with a super-slimming stripes and cinched waist, which will come in handy on summer nights when I’ve had one too many margaritas on the patio.
I haven’t yet decided if the soft violet color of this dress is wedding-appropriate, but I’m tempted to buy it for other summer fêtes. The one-shoulder design is timeless, and when there’s expert darting (hel-lo cinched waistline!) and pockets, I’m guaranteed to fall in love.
Daily Diamond: The new skinny.
February 2nd, 2010 by RuthAvailable in mid-February at Intermix, J Brand’s “Houlihan” Skinny Cargo Pants are expected to fly off the shelves. With skinny cargoes from Gap to Balmain, J Brand offers a nice middle of the road option. I foresee this trend to extinguish quickly so I plan to opt for the Gap pair.
Will you get the splurge, steal, or middle-of-the-road option?

Remember Ruth’s post on military jackets? I’m a little more understated in my own style, but am still inspired to stretch my fashion feelers and buy one of my own. Check out this affordable option from the Gap. With minimal embellishment and a neutral tweed, it’s appropriate enough for the office, yet stylish enough to take me through to weeknight events and special events. How much do you love the asymmetrical buttons and cap sleeves? And at $98, it’s a bargain price for a jacket that should take you through to the winter chill, without looking dated.
Weekend wear.

Has anyone else noticed how chic the most simple of closet staples can be? Take, for example, the white t-shirt. Paired with plain ol’ jeans and a belt, you’ve got yourself one effortless, put-together ensemble. When I’m in a rush to get ready at the weekends, you’ll usually find me in some variation of the abovementioned outfit. So where might one find the perfect tee? Look no further than the trusty Gap. Their Favorite V-neck happens to also be my favorite shirt. It’s as soft as some of my old, worn-in shirts from my high school days, but much more structured and updated. Better still, they ‘re on sale now for $7.99 or $10, depending on which of the six hues you pick!
