After featuring this sweet print back in February, I’ve had the cutesy expression on my mind, without a place to hang it. Since I’m all for a bit of silly in everyday life, I’ve gone ahead and bought this poster to frame for my new place, where I plan to hang it in our teeny-tiny entryway as a sweet reminder of love.

NicolasVintage on Etsy, 70's Vintage Ethnic Dashiki Caftan, $58

After some serious Etsy shopping, I came across NicolasVintage, a fabulous shop heavily inspired by the 1970′s. I became obsessed with a Vintage Ethnic Dashiki Caftan – not only are the colors rich and vibrant, but it’s a serious steal at $58.

Produce Calendar, Krank Press Etsy.com, $20

After reading about Krank Press on T Magazine’s Blog, I was quick to visit the studio’s Etsy shop. Notorious for quirky calendars and off beat stationery, Elinor Nissley cranks out ingenious calendars, stationery, books and bags with her drawings and woodcuts on them.

Krank Press created the most useful item for any chef – the produce calendar! Not only can it be reused yearly but it displays two columns of important information every month; planting recommendations and monthly market produce. Contact Elinor and let her know what area you reside and she will create a calendar indigenous to your area ie New England, New York, Washington DC, Texas, North West, Midwest, Southland, etc.

At $20 a pop, these produce calendars are a no brainer.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Amanda Massa, the beauty and brains behind the gorgeous ExclusivelyZoe line. Over some Leffe Blonde beer and delicious dishes, I learned all about her jewelry business. Offering Chicskates like us handmade statement pieces at insanely affordable prices, Amanda makes the show stopping line in the comfort of her Upper East Side, NYC apartment.

The classy and sophisticated jewelry has an edgy, alternative side that puts the collection into a different category. Available on Etsy.com from $18 to $85, there’s a perfect necklace, pair of earrings or bracelet for every one, no matter what the budget.

Keep Calm and Carry On Poster, $25.00

A dear friend of mine recently purchased a home with her boyfriend, and with great style already embedded in her DNA (her mom should have been an interior decorator; she manages to transform homes into serious showcases), she took to decorating her home with bright splashes of color (red for the kitchen, purple for the living room, etc.) and kitchsy artwork for her walls.

Hanging on a hallway wall was one piece in particular I fell in love with. Simple and straightforward, it read Keep Calm and Carry On in bold, white letters. Based on a British World War II poster, it looks charmingly modern and up-to-date against a seafoam green background. And at $25.00, it’s proof that artwork need not cost a fortune to drum up conversation. There are also other pieces to choose from, with sayings like It Is Better To Be Kind Than Right and You Are My Cup O’ Tea. Artwork and sweet reminders? Sounds like a match in affordable artwork heaven to me.

Oh, and if you want your soon-to-be-favorite-piece-of-art framed, the folks at Etsy will have you covered, too. The print is available for framing, at an additional cost, eliminating the hassle of framing it yourself.

When used together, “Thank” and “you”, can move mountains. Expressing your gratitude and appreciation is one of the most humbling and simplest things you can do to make someone’s day. Whenever someone makes me feel thankful, I send them a handwritten note in a handmade card.

Etsy.com, the original home of handmade products, has thousands of papery options. One store I absolutely adore is bird&bread. The card creator has conceived of great ideas for everyone in your life, even your dad! A pack of four costs $16 – not bad for those two important words.

Unlike commercial soaps, these soaps leave my skin incredibly soft and fresh with no film. Don’t believe me? Ask my boyfriend. He keeps asking why my skin is so soft and consistently comments on the pleasant scent.
