not only did i have my numbers read by a super accurate numerologist, but the bumbys gave me a fair and honest appraisal of my appearance. they gave my look a 9.4, hopefully that’s out of 10 ;)

sunday treat: homemade le pain quotidien bread

April 24th, 2011 by Ruth

A few weekends back, Casey trekked to my humble abode and surprised me with homemade goodies from the Le Pain Quotidien bread baking class she took. Her perfect baguettes, soft rolls and fruit and nut loaf was just what this gal needed to celebrate Sunday. The fruits of her labor were so divine, she inspires me to take the class. Now, I just need someone to go with me! Anyone up for it?

The refreshed kate spade.

March 1st, 2011 by Ruth

As Casey of Casey Culture and I strolled through the Flatiron district on Saturday afternoon, we decided to stop in at the Kate Spade store.

Upon entering, a rainbow of patterns and textured pulsed through the space. Pops of bubblegum, coral, and teal were adorned by gold and silver hardware. Complemented by buttery, structured leather bags and belts, I thought of chicskates who would love these accessories. Oh, and the shoes! We can not forget the shoes! Beautifully structured and plenty of flats for this 5’10″ gal, you can not go wrong! Besides the fabulous white striped dress, the rich, royal baubles caught my eye. I was literally drooling over these jewels – Ugh, I want ALL of them! And EVERYTHING in the store!

Hope you enjoyed the images from the refreshed Kate Spade!

Pops.

November 11th, 2010 by Ruth

It was so nice to take a walk to Washington Square park with Court + Hudson and Casey Culture. I finally brought out a pair of pants my mother would be happy to see resurface. I’m obsessed with the J.Crew shirt and sweater. Lately, I’ve been wearing the sweater to bed. The Nine West flats are not only comfortable, but provide a nice pop of color to the overall look.

Sunshiny day.

October 18th, 2010 by Ruth

Thanks to our fearless leader, we had took some time out of our day to celebrate Casey Carter’s (of Casey Culture) birthday with some sugar Sweet sunshine treats. My favorite cupcakes in town, the icing is perfectly sweet, fresh, and not too sugary while the cake is moist and balances the sweetness of the icing. Look at the fantastic job they did on the script and fun colors. I highly recommend bringing sunshine to any occasion with these morsels.

Bonded.

October 2nd, 2010 by Ruth

These images are from a photo shoot with Casey Carter of Casey Culture on Bond Street at Lafayette. I love the charm of the brick streets and how the color of them matches the gray Calvin Klein dress. I’ve had this dress for some years now and it’s become my go-to when I want to be comfortable yet stylish. I like to pair muted colors with a pattern and lately, I’ve become fond of animal prints — the Charter Club cardigan was a perfect match. I purchased it for under $20 at Macy’s. The wellies are from British company, Wedge Welly. They’re incredibly comfortable and have a cute little wedge that makes you feel a bit sexier than the average rain boot does. The necklace is one of my favorites – a smart $50 purchase at the J.Crew outlet store, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn it. I pair it with just about anything when I want to spice up an outfit and feel a bit more sophisticated.

Life on Lafayette.

September 30th, 2010 by Ruth

I took a few minutes prior to leaving for the Estée Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness event at Bloomingdale’s to take these shots (thanks Casey of Casey Culture). Paired with flats and a canvas tote for errands, or pearls and heels for an opening, this black dress, purchased for $35 at Banana Republic, is perfect for any occasion. Pearls, the new girl’s best friend, are essential for dressing up even the simplest of ensembles. I snagged this multi-string pearl necklace for $50 at the J.Crew outlet. The Coach shoes were bought on sale at Macy’s for $100. Perfect for work, dinners and weddings, I’ve definitely brought the price per wear down to a minimum.

Eat this: Delicatessen

September 29th, 2010 by Ruth

This afternoon I had a fantastic lunch with Casey Carter, Verena Von Pfetten and Justin Fenner at the fabulous Delicatessen. Known for international comfort food, we dined on Truffle Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Burgers, Truffle Fries, Ruebens, Meatballs in a bread bowl and Nicoise salad. Simply put, AMAZING!

Happy.

September 4th, 2010 by Ruth

As I walked down the romantic cobblestone streets of Florence, Italy six years ago, I wandered into a small boutique and laid eyes on this white tank. Tissue soft, delicate and finished with a ruched flower, impulsively, I purchased the 60 euro shirt. I have to say, after all these years, the shirt has held up and it is still one of my favorite pieces.

Purchased for no more than $20 at the J.Crew outlet, I adore the yellow and white pattern and the short crop of the pant’s hemline.

While on a business trip four years ago in Florida, I discovered Dillard’s. A well-kept southern secret, Dillard’s has stylish, well-known and obscure brands at affordable prices. The shoes, exclusive to Dillard’s were a mere $40 and have stood the test of time.

Thanks to Casey Carter of Casey Culture for taking these pictures and for lending me the cruiser.  The splashes of yellow, green and teal make me feel happy and content in my life on Lafayette.
