October 6th, 2011 by Ruth

clinging desperately to the last days of summer, i had to break out my spring/summer burberry dress one last time. i paired it with my favorite yellow blazer and finished the look with my black patent leather sandals. in my mind, this outfit successfully straddled the two seasons.

anywho, you might be wondering about the cheese grill.. well this was taken during my team’s outing at shake shack. and you know how i feel about my amazing team. oh, and color blocking, too :)

The Sartorialist – The Art of the Burberry Trench.

November 20th, 2009 by Ruth

While perusing through The Sartorialist, I found that Scott Schuman brought my love of the trench to life with his portraits. With the tortious shell glasses and serious look on his face, the man looks incredibly sexy and mysterious while bundled up in his trench. Not only do I want to know what he’s thinking, but I want to know where he’s off to. Is it a poetry reading or a business lunch?

With her boyfriend rolled jeans, stunning leather shoes, and wind blown hair, the girl carrying the potted lillies strikes my interest. She is fashion forward yet there’s a little bit of a chicskate in her as she’s buying a potted plant, looking for the flowers to bring her happiness for a period of time longer than fresh cut flowers.

I appreciate Scott’s love for fashion and his ability to bring the personality of the chic trench to life.

In the PINK.

The British invasion extends beyond music and models – Burberry and PINK reign supreme when it comes to fashion. As technology and pop culture constantly evolve, so do the designs of clothing and accessories.

Case in point, technology has transformed the modern commute and Thomas Pink has transformed the modern tie. Part of the Autumn Winter 2009/2010 main line, The Commuter Tie, made of 100% woven silk, touts a small pocket sewn into the back of the tie that houses the new iPod® Nano as well as other smaller music players. An extra fabric loop holds headphone wires out of sight and close to the body, leaving hands free.

Available for $100 online and in stores and in eight stylish colors, there is a tie for every special guy. I know it’s a huge splurge, but after my boyfriend landed his dream job, I thought he deserved something extra special.

The season’s change is among us and lucky for me, fall is my favorite time of year. There’s nothing I love more than slipping on a pair of my fancy flats, bundling up in my favorite sweater, and slipping out the door in a chic trench.

Dating back to the 19th century and Thomas Burberry, the trench coat has been a wardrobe staple throughout history. Brought to the fashion forefront by none other than Calvin Klein, the trench remains popular and most certainly, in vogue.
