Polished and prepped.

With an important business meeting coming up in a few days, I needed to nab something meeting-appropriate that wouldn’t just look professional, but also tailored and stylish enough to work for less buttoned-up days, too. I found this incredible number from Bloomingdale’s, and I can’t remember the last time I got this excited about a meeting. I’m particularly fond of the figure-flattering belt, but also its goes-with-anything khaki fabric and classic cut. This dress won’t just get me through next week; I expect this will become my next new go-to outfit when I need to quickly get dressed.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden

Chiskates, the countdown begins. As Women’s Wear Daily mentioned, in less than 30 days, Nicole Richie’s new clothing line, Winter Kate, will debut at global retailers including Nordstrom, Ron Herman, Intermix, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Saks and Kitson.

The 40-piece collection of vintage-inspired dresses, tunics, vests, and bed jackets, all have that certain style Nicole Richie has made look effortless over the years. If her past designs are any indication, I’m positive I will love the Winter Kate collection as much as House of Harlow 1960. However, something tells me that I should have started saving for these Daily Diamond-worthy pieces about, hmmmm…a year ago.

Combining fashion and comfort, slip-on shoes are the ultimate weekend accessory. Paired with your favorite leggings, stockings or boyfriend or straight leg jeans, these fashionable flats complement any outfit and keep your feet blister free. We absolutely love Toms espadrilles but check out two other gems after the jump. You don’t want to miss them!

Daily Diamond: Juicy Couture Plaid Shirtdress

Juicy Couture Plaid Shirtdress, $178

Juicy Couture Plaid Shirtdress, $178

I’m about to take the plunge into further flannel commitment. Shirts are great, but dresses are better. I found this one while trolling Juicy Couture’s website over the weekend and am thoroughly mulling over the decision to snap it up. The tie waist eliminates the dumpy factor of one large shirtdress, while the three-quarter length sleeves make it great for layering long tees underneath and chunky sweaters on top to reduce the autumn chill. So perhaps I’ve never fully recovered from my obsession with all things My So-Called Life, but at least my current wardrobe will look more sophisticated than my first 90s trial with flannel. The lesson I took away from photos from this era? Don’t try oversized flannel unless you’re an Olsen. Otherwise, stick with tailored pieces that suit your body type and keep the rest of your outfit neutral.

Daily Diamond: Sequined leggings.

Bloomingdales Plan B Sequinned Leggings

Bloomingdales Plan B Sequinned Leggings

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little retro and resorting to the ways of the 80’s. I’m not talking teased hair, side ponies, and blue eye shadow – I’m completely swooning over sequined leggings! I’m dying to wear them with a pair of classy flats or sexy heels, a t-shirt, and black boyfriend blazer with rolled sleeves. These Plan B leggings from Bloomingdales are a great addition to your wishlist.

Aye-aye, Capitano!

This season, cropped jackets are hot, hot, hot. This Captain Glam Jacket is incredibly chic and a must-have for anyone keeping up with current trends. Its silver sequin details and mandarin collar are both flattering and a welcome update to my other black jacket. The three-quarter sleeves meet at the flap pockets found on the waist, making it glamorous and chic. However, at $368, the jacket was a distant dream.

At $168, the Free People “Officer’s” Blazer” available at Bloomingdales.com, is a total steal. Made of rich merino wool, this military-inspired blazer is embellished with rope trim and decorative gold buttons. I absolutely love this standing collar with the detailed badge and the discreet hook-and-eye snaps.
