September 15th, 2011 by Ruth

i’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a few special things. and as the countdown came to an end, i was all smiles. i’m so lucky to have all that i have in my life.

thanks to my better half, cat, i inherited this lovely banana republic dress. i love the silky fabric and sheath that protects me from chronic static. and as the modman is my stylist, i had to borrow his fab jacket. thanks :)

nantucket in nyc

May 22nd, 2011 by Ruth

My dear friend Rosemary, brought in her 28th birthday with a “Nantuck in NYC” party on the rooftop of her East Village apartment. To complement the popped collars, boat shoes, Lilly Pulitzer and madras prints I wore a paisley print J.Crew dress, which has pockets, obvs. Paired with strands of J.Crew pearls, a green linen blazer, and a white Banana Republic bag made of luscious leather, I was ready to paint the town red.

The red door.

October 21st, 2010 by Ruth

The vibrancy of the red door against the distressed green Banana Republic dress sweeps me away to an afternoon in the country. I’m eating a fluffy egg white omelet with fresh goat cheese and herbs from Mario Batali’s Eataly. The antique aesthetic of the door tricks me into thinking the door opens to a country kitchen furnished with raw wood chairs and an over sized table with claw feet; I’m eating my brunch off of heavy ceramic white dishware ala Christiane Lemieux Shabby Chic; drinking my mimosa from a Mason jar; all while the occasional waft of fresh lavender drifts through my nose, reinvigorating my senses.

One of my favorite dresses, this Banana Republic piece is my go-to when I want to feel my best. I like to pair it with a belt and this morning, I chose this gold chain accessory that my mother purchased for me at a craft show. These black boots make their debut today! Purchased for $100 at DSW, these Ciao Bella’s will do me just fine this season as I save up for a fantastic getaway. Of course, I’m still rocking the name plate and dark purple nails.

Thanks to Danny Chung of ModMan for the gorgeous shots. Always fun with you!

Knots Landing.

February 22nd, 2010 by Catherine

I’m having a moment with knotted accessories. They’re simple, but bold enough to avoid blending in with the crowd. I’ve yet to make a purchase, but have got my eye on these picks below.

{Leather Knotted Belt, Banana Republic, $39.50}

{Leather Knotted Belt, Banana Republic, $39.50}

Perfect for playing up a trim waist and an airy dress.

{Metal Mesh Knot Bracelet, Arden B., $24.00}

With a bracelet like this one above, you don’t need much else.

{Women's Knotted Canvas Espadrilles, Old Navy, $24.50}

Hurry up, summer, so I can wear these with everything I have in my closet!

Banana Republic Spring Picks.

Banana Republic consistently impresses me with their polished, affordable designs. Not only that, but you’re also bound to find something that will transition well from work to play quite effortlessly. Take these top fresh picks, for example.

{Banana Republic Heritage Shimmer Print Blouse, $69.50}

{Heritage Shimmer Print Blouse, $69.50}

I’d pair this flowy top with gray trousers and a cardigan for work, then stow my sweater when out for post-work drinks.

{Gathered Cowl Dress, $98.00}

{Gathered Cowl Dress, $98.00}

Loving the cowl neck, which works well when you just don’t feel like accessorizing. The delicate draping creates the drama for you.

{Rumer Peep Toe High Heel Huarache, $120.00}

{Rumer Peep Toe High Heel Huarache, $120.00}

You can’t go wrong with a fresh pedicure and statement heels that go with everything from cuffed jeans to an office-appropriate shift dress.

{Lorelei Ring, $24.99}

If the thought of putting together an entire look is daunting, go with your favorite go-to staples (mine are jeans and a thin, slouchy white tee) and throw on a giant cocktail ring, like the one pictured above. When worn alone on your index finger, the impact is far greater than a collection of pieces worn together.
