After my scone and biscuit baking class at le pain quotidien, I stopped by my favorite fish monger in Chinatown to grab this guy. For the past week, my boyfriend has been asking that I prepare my whole roasted sea bass dish. So, I am obliging. Stay tuned for more pictures. What’s your guys favorite dish?

after a trying work week, i organized a team potluck of sweets and liquor to celebrate the weekend. while strolling the aisles of morton’s, i came across simply organic banana bread mix and bingo, i decided this was the perfect opportunity to use my frozen browned bananas and remainder ghiradelli chocolate chips.

so after i get home from a total body conditioning class and an intense spin, i muster up the energy to not only prepare dinner but to bake the treats. to make the bars gooey, i added 3 browned bananas instead of 2, and undercooked them by about 2 minutes. fresh out the oven, my boyfriend and i topped the dish with ciao bella mint leaf chip gelato. buonissimo!

on my birthday, my boyfriend and i noshed on some barbounia favorites. while we went on a friday afternoon, we were still able to munch on their famed meze plate of hummus, tzatziki, roasted eggplant, taramousalata (my favorite of the dish) and spicy feta and nicoise salad with sushi grade tuna, eggplant, fingerling potatoes, kalamata olives, red onion & hard boiled eggs. that bread you’re looking at, could possibly be one of the best homemade breads i’ve ever had. it’s crispy and salty on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. it goes so well with all the meze plates and is perfect for scooping up the sauces from the salad. what’s your favorite dish at barbounia?

i recently took a much needed holiday and vacationed in costa rica. a country with no army and populated with transplants, the vibe is laid back and worldly. the food light and fresh. the exercise plentiful and invigorating. in fact, we practiced yoga at 2x a day at vida asana yoga retreat center in playa hermosa. during my free time, i lounged on the beach, meditated, napped (of course) and read the hunger games trilogy. this experience also gave me plenty of time to think. to try and come to peace with the fact that the sun is setting on my 20s as i come into my 29th year of life. for some reason, i struggle with this age more than i believe i will when my 30th rolls around. my way to deal with this debacle, spoiling myself with things that improve and maintain my health. whether its yoga retreats, yearly vacations, massages, a juicer for cleanses, organic foods or time to recharge, i vow to take care of me. and that’s how i plan to get through the next 365 days with my whits about me.

lately, my favorite way to spend a sunday is with fresh shakshuka. all you need is fresh tomatoes, half a red bell pepper, garlic, onion, a can of whole tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce and eggs.

chop everything, throw it into a non-stick pan such as a le creuset and heat it until the mixture is thick. once that happens, crack whole eggs into little pockets you make, finish with two handfuls of chopped flat leaf parsley, salt and pepper and voila, breakfast is served. eat with your favorite italian or french style baguette.

not only did i have my numbers read by a super accurate numerologist, but the bumbys gave me a fair and honest appraisal of my appearance. they gave my look a 9.4, hopefully that’s out of 10
