I love shopping at Nine West for affordable Spring/Summer shoes and accessories. A few days ago, they launched a pre-order  2010 Trunk Show. Nine West Creative Director, Fred Allard “felt it was important to transition from the tough gladiator styles we had been seeing to a softer, more feminine look – with neutrals and metallics, but still keeping an edge with details like caviar studding.” Amen, Fred!

Here’s a few of our favorite picks. Which items will you be scooping up?

Chanel Iman up close.

February 4th, 2010 by Ruth

Exciting news today! We here at Chic Thrills had the chance to sit down and chat with ultimate chicskate and L.E.I. Jeans Model Citizen judge, Chanel Iman. Now at a mere 16 years old, Iman hasn’t missed a Fashion Week since she was 12! Completely in the know, this season’s fashion style is leather pants, Chanel bags, ponytails and of course, L.E.I. Jeans.

She stashes all her cash for her favorite high-fashion discount store, D Magazine, which is located in Milan, Italy. “They have the best designers at half the price. I scoop up vintage Versace and other designers there,” chirped Iman.

The secret behind being the ultimate chicskate, she says, is confidence and attitude. Iman said it perfectly: “Confidence gets me down the runway. Sometimes I don’t like the outfit that I have on but it’s my job to sell it.” Take a cue from her approach: all you need is a little confidence and the right attitude to make the steals look like a splurge.

Naturally thin, Iman has been blessed with the genes that allow her to eat whatever she wants and says that her best beauty secret is her full eyebrow. As a money saver, “I use Anastasia’s Eyebrow Kit and do them myself.”

She also credits music as an instant mood-booster. “I listen to a variety of music prior to a show. Right now on my iPod I have: Madonna, Kanye, Beyonce and I can dance anywhere in the world if listening to Michael Jackson.”

And there you have it – life according to a supermodel!

I’m obsessed with vintage and antique style jewelry and understandably have taken a liking to the Gold Vermeil Vintage Locket by Three Sisters Jewelry Design. Blending current trends with a classic feel, this vermeil gold and glass locket sports a little charm, is 1″ in diameter, hangs low on a 24″ chain and houses a precious memory. Send a personal photo to the company when you order and the Three Sisters convert it to a black and white locket size for you to hold close to your heart.

One snappy necklace.

October 2nd, 2009 by Catherine

Picture 1Just as much as I’m a sucker for a good bag, I also flip for whimsical jewelry. It’s rare I go nuts for expensive, run-of-the-mill pieces, preferring to scour Etsy, flea markets and Ebay for bobbles that the masses can’t access. You can probably imagine my excitement when I came across this snappy necklace from accessory maven Kenneth Jay Lane. Known for creating charming whimsy in his accessories, I’ve come to love his affordable style and all the compliments I get on said pieces. His Gold Alligator Pendant Necklace is bold enough to spice up outfits on its own, and super affordable at $39 on Bluefly’s website.

A tote for all seasons.

September 15th, 2009 by Catherine

As I get older, I tend to schlep more and more things around with me every day. Upon clearing out one purse, I found no fewer than 26 items, including a book, my Blackberry charger, more gum than humanly possible to chew and an old Starbucks gift card that hasn’t had money on it since there was snow on the ground.

51e8HheNUXL._AA260_But that won’t stop me from looking for the perfect, affordable tote bag to keep all my useless (but oh so necessary) things in one place. This one from Target has it all – ample room, pockets aplenty and enough style to take me from work in the morning to dinner out at night. Better still, it’s marked down from $44.99 to $15.74! Say what you will about a giant purse, I just can’t get enough of their practicality and function.

I swooned for Sui at Target.

September 14th, 2009 by Catherine

I haven’t been this excited about a collaboration since Madonna first collaborated with H&M in 2007! Yesterday marked the launch of Anna Sui’s line for Target and I fully admit to rushing out to get my hands on her sophisticated, affordable dresses and skirts. Available through October 17th, the collections features Gossip Girl-inspired pieces, all for under $150. I made a beeline for this darling tweed dress with a feather-esque neckline, with dreams of wearing it with thick, black tights to upcoming fall events. With the prices so great and the clothes so chic, I couldn’t help but play favorites to the looks below. Check out Anna Sui’s full collection at Target stores nationwide and Target’s website.

Geek Chic.

August 28th, 2009 by Catherine

The other day I ran out of contact lenses and wound up wearing my nerdy glasses that I save for bedtime hours and occasional allergy flare-ups. But it caused quite a stir with friends I haven’t seen in a long time, who adored my suddenly geek-chic look. Turns out, my ripped up jeans, men’s T-shirt and Old Navy flip flops reach a new level of chic with a pair of dark-rimmed glasses topping it all off.

14431654_01_bTheir raves inspired me to go out and buy another pair of glasses from Urban Outfitters. Perfectly retro, yet sweetly nerdish enough to pull off the innocent school charm of days gone by, I plan to wear these long into the fall and winter when I’m feeling uninspired to accessorize with gusto. Available in black and tortoiseshell for $14, they’re such an affordable way to add some flair without a lot of effort.
