Daily Diamond: Futuristic Bathroom Design.

February 22nd, 2010 by Ruth

After seeing the bathroom of Flaming Lips lead singer, Wayne Coyne, on FlavorWire.com, I felt it was necessary to share with you. It’s such an incredible use of space, but certainly not everyone’s cup of tea.  Fitzsimmons Architects created a Jetsons-esque room, with mirrored tile and trippy use of color, and a budget we can only imagine as sky-high.

I love the unusual elements and bold escape from the norm, but want to hear from you, too. If you had the means to do so, would you go for a bathroom like this?

Daily Diamond: Madison Marcus Boundless Dress

February 19th, 2010 by Catherine

Once in a while, a dress will come along and stick out in my mind for various reasons. Be it a lovely color, a flattering cut, or its event potential, I tend to quickly fall in love with dresses, more so than any other piece of clothing. And when said dresses have charming and unusual details (think bold colors, intricate beading, and the like), my pulse really starts racing. This number from Madison Marcus has all the makings of my new favorite. What’s not to love about the olive green fabric, racerback, and feather drawstring? It’s the perfect option to make a quiet statement that will resonate for years to come.

Measure of happiness.

February 18th, 2010 by Catherine

One of my favorite ways to decorate my home is by replacing the mundane with something colorful and charming. Take these measuring cups and spoons, for example. Can you imagine a sweeter addition to your kitchen? I don’t see any harm (except, perhaps, budgetary) in choosing any of these darling options over more run-of-the-mill cups, do you?

Daily Diamond: Tarte Natural Gel Lip Stains

February 17th, 2010 by Catherine
Eeny, meeny, meiny mo...

Eeny, meeny, meiny mo...

After years of wearing nothing but lip gloss, I’ve begun dabbling in formulas that last beyond my morning cup of coffee. These lip stains from Tarte caught my eye, having learned they’re made with the same technology as my beloved blush. But unlike original stain formulas, these don’t suck the moisture right out of your lips, which is great news for me and my parched pucker.

Daily Diamond: L’Occitane Delicious Almond Candle

February 15th, 2010 by Catherine
Yum.

Who needs a WBFP?

My relationship with the winter is definitely describable as love/hate. While I hate the cold winds and dry skin that accompany the season, I secretly like being forced home on particularly too-cold/too-snowy evenings. I curl up with a blanket, a good book, and always have a candle ready to burn in place of a working fireplace. My current obsession is the Delicious Almond Candle from L’Occitane. It vaguely smells like marzipan, and wafts such a delicate fragrance throughout my home, without overpowering the room I’ve nested in.

Daily Diamond: Vintage-Inspired iPod Speakers

February 12th, 2010 by Catherine

When the weekend rolls around, I’m happiest at home, tending to my to-do’s that have taken a backseat to my busy weekdays and nights. This weekend is no different, with my task list growing by the day, and while I certainly take pride in my attention to the little things, it’s my playlists that keep me going through the day. Changing my sheets and organizing my clothes/dirty laundry/new spring clothes is so much more fun with music to set the pace.

{Vers Sound System iPod Speaker, $220.00}

I’ve had the same set of speakers now for 4 years and they’re starting to lose their magic, so I’ve got my eye on a couple new systems just in case of an emergency. The contradiction of vintage design and modern technology strike a very pleasant cord with me, and I’d love nothing more than to stash one by my bedside. I adore the one from Vers (above), but would settle for either of the two below if I want to keep my budget on the lower end.

Daily Diamond: UNITE Eurotherapy 7Seconds Condition

{UNITE Eurotherapy 7Seconds Condition, $20.75}

If I were to ever land on an island, deserted and alone, but miraculously with my vanity case in tow, I can only hope my UNITE Eurotherapy 7Seconds Condition also landed safely. From a product standpoint, this lightweight spray really delivers on its promises to detangle, soften, and protect my hair from my self-inflicted abuse (all very essential when you’re abandoned on a sunny island). From a scent standpoint, it makes me want to bury my nose in my hair all day long. It vaguely smells like Herbal Essence’s original scent, but much more sophisticated and yummy in an “of course I don’t use fragrance in my hair; that’s just my natural aroma” kind of way.

Daily Diamond: Loeffler Randall Spring Picks

February 10th, 2010 by Catherine

Warm weather is definitely on my mind, since it’s simply nowhere in sight here on the snowy east coast. This is probably why I can’t stop looking at spring designs from brands worldwide. Loeffler Randall‘s new spring items have me warmed up with the thought of impeccable style to come.

I’d wear this dress now with thick black tights, flat boots and a boyfriend blazer to fight the chill and to add just a touch of toughness to an otherwise sweet dress.

I can just imagine frolicking about on the first warm evening of the year in these. What’s not to like about yellow shoes?

I want nothing more than to wear these with baggy boyfriend jeans, cuffed up to expose the pastel pattern.

Daily Diamond: Wildfox Couture Red Sparkle Heart Jumper

February 8th, 2010 by Catherine
Show some love.

Show some love.

Having worked in public relations for a number of years, I can appreciate the spike in value an object has once connected with a hot celebrity. Perfumes, clothing lines, nail polishes, cars, even salads have a certain worth when paired with a movie/pop/TV star fan. Such, however, was not the case when I spotted this jumper on Jennifer Lopez. I just happen to really love wearing hearts. And with February’s end nowhere near, a punchy pop of color and love to my wardrobe won’t hurt to keep my spirits bright!

Daily Diamond: House of Harlow 1960 Peacock Cuff

February 5th, 2010 by Catherine
Bold bird.

Big bird.

Statement jewelry just had its bar raised with the launch of this stunning cuff from Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 collection. It’s a drastic departure from the delicate bangles I tend to wear, but one that’s got me all aflutter.
