Killer deal on iconic hairbrush!

December 17th, 2009 by Catherine

Mason Pearson Hairbrush

Mason Pearson Hairbrush

Amongst most hairdressers I know, there’s a collective love for one brush in particular by cult brand Mason Pearson. Having long made high-quality hairbrushes (the brand dates back to the 1800s), most women I know refuse to use anything else once they’ve tried the famous tools, but the pricepoint (upwards of $100), tends to deter people from buying them. I can’t say I blame them, either. That’s a lot of dough for a brush! But on the flipside, these puppies last forever. Case in point? My own mother still has hers from her own childhood…which was a long time ago.

But the lucky editors at, uh, Lucky, have managed to snag a deal through online retailer SatinBox.com. Using the promo code lucky5, you’ll nab 50% off the purchase price from now until 7:59 AM EST on December 18th.

Dreaming of a sandy new year.

TIBI Palm-Print Full-Length Gown, $172.50

TIBI Palm-Print Full-Length Gown, $172.50

I can’t get summer clothes off the brain. Perhaps it’s a grass-is-always-greener syndrome, or maybe it’s just because warm weather is out of reach for me, but I just can’t help but look at resort collections and think up places I could wear said pieces. Winter may have its perks (dry skin and bulky sweaters aside, of course), but it’s summer that I long for season after season.

How darling is this strapless dress from Tibi? Doesn’t it just scream “holidays in St. Barth”? I’m just loving the oversized palm print and poppy colors. With plenty of internal support to keep you in good shape while frolicking beachside, it will long make a classic vacation staple.

And to make a sweet dress even sweeter, its price is slashed from $575 to $172.50, a much more Chic Thrills-approved price, wouldn’t you say?

Let the Friends and Family Sales Begin!

November 26th, 2009 by Catherine

Being the holiday tradition junkie that I am, it just wouldn’t feel like Thanksgiving without a surge of Family & Friends sales from stores large and small alike. My top pick this year is from skincare giant Kiehl’s. With hundreds of products to pick from, you and your gift list should be covered, all at 20% off. Web shoppers will also nab free shipping on top of their discount with the code FAMILY. Another bonus – no Black Friday crowds to contend with. We all know how much I hate combative shopping…

Game on. Let the shopping begin.

The sale’s the limit!

November 17th, 2009 by Catherine

No, this isn’t a joke! The folks at Saks must have heard our prayers (or are stepping in for Santa’s elves) because they’ve marked down select items by 50% in their FashionFix section of the website. With clothing and accessories from Anya Hindmarch, Alice + Olivia, Badgley Mishcka, and Theory available at way-below-normal prices, the deals made me stagger just a bit. Quantities and sizes are limited, so if you’re in need of a few holiday getups, now’s the time to shop! But hurry – the sale ends Wednesday the 18th (tomorrow!) at noon, if they don’t sell out of everything before then.

Exclusive for Chic Thrills readers…

November 6th, 2009 by Catherine

I tend to stick to favored routines when it comes to everything – morning habits, skincare, running routes, even how I take my coffee. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a creature of habit, but even chicks like me need to deviate once in a while. I’ve long purchased my favored hair products from a few stores in my neighborhood, each one stocked with the brands I love. And while I’m all about mass-market shampoos, I tend to remain picky when it comes to my conditioner and styling products. My hair, like myself, gets fickle when routines get broken.

It seems like the folks at Lock & Mane are fickle about hair products, too. Have you heard about this website yet? No? Go there now! It’s chock full of luxury brands including Jonathan, Philip B., Oscar Blandi, and Patyka, plus offers expertise from Manhattan dermatologist Dr. Michael Lorin Reed, who specializes in hair and scalp health, and has weighed in on each and every product you see on the site. The site further provides detailed descriptions of every product and tool available, ensuring you’re fully educated on your purchase.

Can you tell I’m in love with this website?

And to further sweeten the deal, the lovely peeps at Lock & Mane have ponied up an exclusive discount for you savvy Chic Thrills followers. Simply pick your necessary products and using the code “ChicThrills” at checkout will nab you 15% off your order. I’ve selected my favorites below. What are your top picks?

87557Contrary to what we may like to believe, sitting on our, uh, tushes all day does not give us Heidi Klum-esque buns. But for a majority of us busy-bodies, that’s what we do Monday – Friday at work, leaving little or no time for the gym, often resulting in a pancake bottom. This is where my new favorite DVD comes in. Created by the geniuses at Exhale, the mind body spa known for its painfully effective Pilates-infused Core Fusion® toning classes, the latest edition to their awesome DVD workout series is called Core Fusion® Thighs & Glutes and it’s a lower body-scorcher!

Core Fusion® Thighs & Glutes features five 10-minute glutifying, butt-lifting exercises that are effective, easy to follow, and can be practiced in the comfort of your own home. Each workout targets different areas of the lower body for a complete toning experience. Divide up the exercises individually when you’re crunched for time, or play them together for a full Core Fusion® class. The DVD is entirely tailorable to suit your needs.

Curious to see what your bum and legs will look like through the program? The Core Fusion® Thighs & Glutes can be found online, as well as in all exhale spa locations for $14.99, a total steal when compared with the cost per class at the exhale studios.

all about the anthro.

November 4th, 2009 by Catherine

new-anthropologie-logoI’ve mentioned before how much I love Anthropologie for its unusual wares and high standard of quality. Their customer service and friendly team don’t hurt their standing in my book of favorite places to shop, either. Case in point? I once purchased a lace dress from Anna Sui. It was just gorgeous and fit me perfectly…until I sat down and the underlay’s straps snapped off, leaving me in a very unfortunate situation while out to dinner. The next day, I called over to the store where I bought the dress and after apologizing profusely, the manager asked that I bring the dress back for a full refund. How amazing is that?

When I first learned about the company’s insider program, called anthro, I didn’t hesitate to sign up. The free membership entitles me to shop for items not yet available to the masses, receipt-free returns (in the rare event I actually need to make a return), and sweet discounts during my birthday month (which, thank you for inquiring, happens to be this month). Interested in learning more? Check out the anthro homepage here.

Stellar Sale Alert!

November 3rd, 2009 by Catherine

I’ve long regarded Barney’s as the ultimate window shopping destination. During my years in Manhattan, I’d often stroll around the stores immaculate floors, soaking up the style and dreaming of ways to recreate it on my itty bitty budget. Sales were rare, so when the company launched a massive beauty sale online, you can bet I headed to the site the first chance I got. Loaded with beauty booty from this works and Vincent Longo, the products are marked so far down, it almost feels illegal to be buying things at such a discount. Almost.

So check out my current obsessions below and chime in with your own top picks from this awesome sale!

Allow chandeliers to have another moment.

October 20th, 2009 by Catherine

By now, we here at Chic Thrills have now established our combined love for the charm chandeliers bring to home design . Not only do they make great dinnerware, I think replacing old standby fixtures created lovelier lighting, and besides, it never hurts to add a focal point to any room. Pottery Barn must have caught on to our love for chandeliers, then, because what else would explain their current sale? All fixtures are marked down 25%, with models that should suit any style. I’ve narrowed down my favorite to the three above. Which one do you think I should choose for my kitchen?

Dress you up for $39.

October 16th, 2009 by Catherine

I’ve mentioned before how much I love the ease of a summer wardrobe, so with dropping temperatures, I’m going through dress withdrawal. To help me get through the fall and winter, I’ve got some thick black tights and cozy cardis to pair with my current summer staples. But even I need a few closet updates, so with Urban Outfitters’ Dress Sale, I’m about to stock up on a couple more options to keep my morning routine easy and simple. Select dresses are marked down to just $39, way below regular prices. Check out my picks above and let me know which ones you snap up this weekend!
