Made with love.

For as long as I’ve known my dear friend Renata, she’s always been the most creative and artistic. Our sorority days were a true testament to her talent, when we’d have to make gifts galore for new sisters*. Her wares were always the best by far, looking more “Martha Stewart” than the attempts everyone else made.

We’re long past our Greek life days, but she’s applying her talents elsewhere by opening a shop on Etsy. With darling accessories available for under $12.00, she’s constantly replenishing the store with cuter-by-the-day pieces. I’ve put to rest my own crafting days, but can’t contain my college-level excitement about these pieces here.

Essential body work.

Lay It On Thick Shower Cream, $15.00

Lay It On Thick Shower Cream, $15.00

It had been quite some time since I last gave products from Bath & Body Works a shot, but this past Christmas my mom put in my stocking a trial sized tube of Lay It On Thick™ Shower Cream from their True Blue Spa line. While I’ll always love my crazy affordable Dove washes and scrubs, I couldn’t help but fell head over heels in love with the creamy body wash, which left my otherwise dry and flakey skin soft and smooth.

It doesn’t just smell delicious (think vanilla cupcake meets buttercream frosting…yum!), but it’s super hydrating, and now officially my new favorite soap. Having almost depleted my travel-sized sample, I’m ready to upgrade to the bigger tube, which just happens to be on sale! All of Bath & Body Works’ Aromatherapy and True Blue Spa products are currently “Buy 2 Get 2 Free” in stores and online. With loads of different products to choose from, including candles, foot scrubs and hand lotions, I have no doubt you’ll find ways of scoring your two free products in a jiffy!

A chance to stay where Brad Pitt slept.

A weekend of mayhem awaits...

If you’ve ever dreamt of sleeping amongst the (celebrity-esque) stars, then your chance is about to arrive. The Hotel Gansevoort just slashed prices, when ordinarily, rooms at this New York celebrity hotspot go for upwards of $450. Standard Rooms are currently going for $198 a night! So if you’ve dreamed of rubbing elbows with the who’s who of celebrity, you can now afford to do so without bankrupting yourself. That’s so D-List.

With a swanky rooftop pool and loft, bustling bar and amenities aplenty, you’ve got plenty ways to create your very own celebrity scandal, right in the heart of the West Village. No word on how long the sale will last, so if you’ve been thinking about a trip to New York, I’d hop to it and book already!

Dance, Magic Dance.

It might come as a shock to learn that as much as I adore going out, New Year’s Eve is at the very bottom of my list of favorite nights on the town. It’s partly to do with the pressure to have a really great time, but I also resent the “deals” that come along with the evening, usually requiring a boatload of cash for all-you-can-drink specials, which, quite frankly, irritate me. Why should I spend three times what I’d normally spend on a regular evening, where I can have just as much fun?

Split-Neck Sequin Dress, $159.99

Split-Neck Sequin Dress, $159.99

But then I start dreaming up all the lovely outfits I could wear to ring in 2010. And before you know it, I’m making plans to go out, wearing said outfit. This year is no exception with this dress from Victoria’s Secret. How can you not want to go out dancing in this sequined number?  With 3/4-length sleeves to beat the chill (if you’re like me and sticking around the East Coast for the 31st) and a figure-flattering gathered waist (if you’re like me and plan to have one too many desserts at Christmas), the pink will stand out against the predictable sea of little black dresses most women tend to lean towards.

Making the dress even sweeter is its sale price, marked down to $159.99 from $258. Dresses like this one (classic cut, with a dash of whimsy) are built to transcend trends, too. Can’t you see this dress on the dance floor at Studio 54 in the 70s?

House of Harlow for bebe.

Nicole Richie for bebe Sunburst Bangle, $29.99

Nicole Richie for bebe Sunburst Bangle, $29.99

We here at Chic Thrills cannot get enough of Nicole Richie’s chic, affordable jewelry in her House of Harlow collection. We were thrilled when we first heard she was designing for bebe (limited-edition designer pieces usually go for a LOT less than items in their original collection), and even more thrilled when we learned of the pieces going on sale this week. With all the vintage charm of her original House of Harlow pieces, bebe’s line embodies her signature hippie style, with price tags we can’t argue with. Our top pick is the Sunburst Bangle, marked down from $64.00 to $29.99.

COLE HAAN

My darling boyfriend gave me the most beautiful pair of ballet flats earlier this week. Forever a chicskate, he let me in on the bargain buy. The Cole Haan Aleta Ballet, originally retailing in the $160 price range, was posted on Gilt Groupe for half the price. Being the thoughtful person he is, he decided to surprise me with them. I love surprises and love them even more when they’re smart purchases. Thanks, love!
