It’s been nearly 12 years since I last received any form of a monthly allowance from my parents, but I’ve never lost the lessons that came from having to budget my tiny little cash flow. Perhaps that’s why I’m so fond of this darling pouch from designer Rebecca Minkoff. In a way, my own grown-up budget is something of an allowance each month, so why not celebrate it with a sophisticated accessory?

Made with love.

For as long as I’ve known my dear friend Renata, she’s always been the most creative and artistic. Our sorority days were a true testament to her talent, when we’d have to make gifts galore for new sisters*. Her wares were always the best by far, looking more “Martha Stewart” than the attempts everyone else made.

We’re long past our Greek life days, but she’s applying her talents elsewhere by opening a shop on Etsy. With darling accessories available for under $12.00, she’s constantly replenishing the store with cuter-by-the-day pieces. I’ve put to rest my own crafting days, but can’t contain my college-level excitement about these pieces here.

Romper room.

After wanting nothing to do with them when they first hit the scene last year, I’ve gradually warmed up to the idea of wearing a romper. When styled correctly, I think the complete look is incredibly chic and simple to pull together. The biggest trick is finding one that isn’t cut super short, and to buy one a size larger than you’d usually wear. Anything too tight will look inappropriate on many different levels. I’m still chewing over my choice, but I’ve narrowed it down to these two below.

I’m loving the soft draping of the neckline, and the fabric color. Navy is such a standout hue for every skin tone.

This one, from Rachel Roy’s line for Macy’s, would be ideal for dressing up or down, since it’s minimally embellished and in a fabric that can work well for day or night.
