Knots Landing.

February 22nd, 2010 by Catherine

I’m having a moment with knotted accessories. They’re simple, but bold enough to avoid blending in with the crowd. I’ve yet to make a purchase, but have got my eye on these picks below.

{Leather Knotted Belt, Banana Republic, $39.50}

Because of my career, I kind of met Sarah Jessica Partner. Now, did I sit down and have a cup of coffee with her? No, not that kind of meet. But I did sit in the same room as her in an intimate setting at the SJP NYC launch event held on Friday, February 19 at the ever-charming Sweetie Pie, a destination restaurant in the West Village.

Inspired by the essence and spirit of Carrie Bradshaw, SJP NYC is reminiscent of the feeling you get when walking down your favorite New York City streets. Defined as a “party in a bottle”, she stepped away from her comfort zone in conceptualizing this fragrance, and created a floral scent with its own signature note, The Strawberry. The ultimate fragrance accessory for an every day adventure, this scent is something to spritz on when the temperature finally breaks.

SJP NYC Fragrance line

Styled by Elle’s Creative Director, Joe Zee, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a one-of-a-kind Oscar de la Renta dress made for the SJP NYC ad campaign (naturally). The dress and fragrance’s bottle embody Carrie Bradshaw and the essence of the lively, youthful fragrance. With notes of strawberry, mandarin, gardenia and musks, the scent is vibrant and colorful, just like the dress.

Lastly, I have to say, Sarah Jessica Parker was incredibly humble, interesting, funny, and well-spoken. As most girls might say, my life is just a little more complete after having this amazing opportunity to interact with Carrie Bradshaw…I mean, SJP.

Daily Diamond: Madison Marcus Boundless Dress

February 19th, 2010 by Catherine

Once in a while, a dress will come along and stick out in my mind for various reasons. Be it a lovely color, a flattering cut, or its event potential, I tend to quickly fall in love with dresses, more so than any other piece of clothing. And when said dresses have charming and unusual details (think bold colors, intricate beading, and the like), my pulse really starts racing. This number from Madison Marcus has all the makings of my new favorite. What’s not to love about the olive green fabric, racerback, and feather drawstring? It’s the perfect option to make a quiet statement that will resonate for years to come.

I must admit that I’m a sucker for love-inspired art. What could be sweeter than wall candy that spells out your feelings for your beloved? And while my boyfriend and I don’t currently live together, I’m not opposed to hanging something like these pieces below to represent how I feel.

Measure of happiness.

One of my favorite ways to decorate my home is by replacing the mundane with something colorful and charming. Take these measuring cups and spoons, for example. Can you imagine a sweeter addition to your kitchen? I don’t see any harm (except, perhaps, budgetary) in choosing any of these darling options over more run-of-the-mill cups, do you?

White hot.

With New York Fashion Week just about to wrap up, I can’t help but have Fall on the brain. One of my favorite looks came from Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief event, which benefitted relief efforts in Haiti. Styled by Rachel Zoe, the show was a nonstop rush of celeb sightings both on and off the runway. Each model sported a crisp, shimmery white called Diamond District from Dashing Diva’s collection of oh-so-hot nail colors. The color, which surprisingly flattered everyone’s skin tone, is available for a bargain-friendly $6 here.

Cruises haven’t really been my thing, perhaps on account of feeling claustrophobic at the slightest hint of confinement. But with a deal like this one from Caribbean Cruises, I may work on my issues and book a fast getaway. For $299 and with very limited departure dates (April 24th and May 3rd only, with destinations determined by when you leave), this trip would be perfect if you have the time off and are alright with an itinerary planned for you. Choose from Jamaica and Grand Cayman on the 24th, or Turks & Caicos and the Bahamas on the 3rd, with all cruises departing from Miami.

Daily Diamond: Tarte Natural Gel Lip Stains

February 17th, 2010 by Catherine
Eeny, meeny, meiny mo...

Eeny, meeny, meiny mo...

After years of wearing nothing but lip gloss, I’ve begun dabbling in formulas that last beyond my morning cup of coffee. These lip stains from Tarte caught my eye, having learned they’re made with the same technology as my beloved blush. But unlike original stain formulas, these don’t suck the moisture right out of your lips, which is great news for me and my parched pucker.

Gimme, gimme s’more.

February 17th, 2010 by Catherine

During the summer, my favorite treat is definitely a s’more. There’s nothing more delicious than crunchy graham crackers, gooey marshmallows, and melty chocolate to culminate any evening. But without a working fireplace or gas stove, I’m out of luck trying to roast marshmallows indoors for the next few months. So with that in mind, would it be out of line to buy the Micro S’more? Marketed as the “10 Second Treat that’s Fun to Eat”, it’s enough convincing for me and my sweet tooth that we need this now…

Short on space.

February 17th, 2010 by Catherine

I’ve learned from living in New York that you can never have enough storage space. Closets and whatnot are key to a healthy existence, otherwise I begin to feel cramped and crowded in an already cramped and crowded city. So, what’s a girl to do when she still needs to cook and can’t afford to waste too much space on equipment? Opt for space-saving designs like the ones below.

{Joseph Joseph Nesting 8 Multicolored Bowls, $59.00}
{Joseph Joseph Nesting 8 Multicolored Bowls, $59.00}

With all the essentials you need to prep a meal, the bowls tuck away neatly when you’re done.

{Alessi Giovannoni Toaster, $199.00}
{Alessi Giovannoni Toaster, $199.00}

The price is a little steep for a toaster, but when you’ve got no counter space to spare, this thin design will tuck away neatly and discretely.

{Folding Colander, $22.00}

Stores perfectly flat for convenient storage.
