Florals done right.

Thanks to an overkill during the 90s, florals have taken on a bad name (here’s looking at you, Laura Ashley). But thanks to new, sweet designs from designers worldwide, they’re slowly making a triumphant, chic-er return to everyday runways. This skirt from Victoria’s Secret’s PINK collection, is just too sweet to pass up. Toughen it up with a leather jacket, or simplify your look as the model has done here; all you need is a basic tank and hoodie.

Make like a bird and fly south for winter.

With winter showing no signs of letting up (thanks a lot, Phil), maybe now’s the time to make a break and head south for a quick break. Fly.com just listed super-sweet deals from New York City to Florida, for under $200 (with exact fare dependent on arrival city), including taxes. Not sure if you can escape the 9-to-5 drill? These fares last until May, so you’ve got plenty time to convince your boss you need a vacation!

Every now and then, a product comes along that instantly changes the game of skincare. Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant is such an allstar. Made with rice enzymes to smooth skin, salicylic acid to clear pores of acne-causing debris, and licorice to even skin pigmentation, it’s a fine powder that packs a huge punch in the fight for great skin when used alone or mixed with your regular cleanser. I just love how a little goes a long way to keep my skin looking fresh and vibrant.

Chanel Iman up close.

February 4th, 2010 by Ruth

Exciting news today! We here at Chic Thrills had the chance to sit down and chat with ultimate chicskate and L.E.I. Jeans Model Citizen judge, Chanel Iman. Now at a mere 16 years old, Iman hasn’t missed a Fashion Week since she was 12! Completely in the know, this season’s fashion style is leather pants, Chanel bags, ponytails and of course, L.E.I. Jeans.

She stashes all her cash for her favorite high-fashion discount store, D Magazine, which is located in Milan, Italy. “They have the best designers at half the price. I scoop up vintage Versace and other designers there,” chirped Iman.

The secret behind being the ultimate chicskate, she says, is confidence and attitude. Iman said it perfectly: “Confidence gets me down the runway. Sometimes I don’t like the outfit that I have on but it’s my job to sell it.” Take a cue from her approach: all you need is a little confidence and the right attitude to make the steals look like a splurge.

Naturally thin, Iman has been blessed with the genes that allow her to eat whatever she wants and says that her best beauty secret is her full eyebrow. As a money saver, “I use Anastasia’s Eyebrow Kit and do them myself.”

She also credits music as an instant mood-booster. “I listen to a variety of music prior to a show. Right now on my iPod I have: Madonna, Kanye, Beyonce and I can dance anywhere in the world if listening to Michael Jackson.”

And there you have it – life according to a supermodel!

Bathroom refresher.

Toftbo, $13, Ikea

Toftbo shower curtain, $13, Ikea

One great way to quickly update your bathroom is with a new shower curtain and bath mat. The one thing I’ve noticed while shopping for new options is that they are incredibly expensive! After realizing that the average price at mass retailers is approximately $50 for each, I decided to turn to good old Ikea. I found the Toftbo collection to not only be affordable but the colors are bright and refreshing, perfect for a spring update.
