Operation Dinner: Cheap, healthy and super fast.

December 7th, 2009 by Catherine

While I love a good meal out every so often, I usually prefer to cook at home, not just for financial reasons, but also to ensure I know exactly what I’m eating. Last night I whipped up a dish that knocked my socks off. It not only tasted delicious, but it cost me way less than $5 per serving. Curious about my meal? Click through for the recipe! (more…)

Lotta Stensson Nairobi Robe, $375

Lotta Stensson Nairobi Robe, $375

Am I the only one who’s got a running tally of days left in winter? Part of my aversion to the season is my hatred for feeling chilly, but I also just prefer my summer clothes to the bulky layers I wear to stay warm. This dress from Lotta Stensson isn’t making my summer longing any weaker, either. Made from 100% silk, it’s got “hazy-days-of-summer” written all over it. I’m loving everything about it, from its tribal-inspired print, to the cinched empire waist. Now if only winter would hurry up and just go away already…

Available at Stanton James for $375.

Best foot forward.

Seychelles Footwear "Tippy Toes" Pump, $99.95

Seychelles Footwear "Tippy Toes" Pump, $99.95

I’m forever on the hunt for perfect, affordable shoes, as I oft chronicle on this site. While I’m definitely not the Imelda Marcos-kinda gal who needs thousands of shoes to keep me stylish, I like to have options on hand, for whatever the occasion. How sweet are these heels from Seychelles Footwear? Available in basic black, neutral gray, and a snappier turquoise, the suede heels will look just as appropriate now with opaque stockings as they will come warmer months. That’s the thing about smart shoe shopping – look carefully enough and you can find options that will override the seasonal restrictions.

A huge smash.
