Chic Gifts: Card Cubby
November 24th, 2009 by CatherineDaily Diamond: Williams-Sonoma Holiday Snowman Brownie Pops
November 24th, 2009 by Catherine
Okay, okay – I know it’s not yet officially winter, but in my book, if it feels like winter, I’m calling it like I see it. So what’s the harm in wanting these adorable Snowman Brownie Pops from Williams-Sonoma to have right now? These peppermint chocolate brownies are dipped in white chocolate and decorated Frosty-style for one super-cute holiday treat. I’d rather snow like this than the shoveled variety any day!
Sorta baked.
November 24th, 2009 by CatherineWhen you break down your “gotta give” list for the holidays, there are always a handful of people who are just impossible to shop for. Or perhaps you’re not terribly close with a certain someone, but would like to pass along some holiday cheer without spending a fortune. Fair game. I’ve got you covered with a killer, easy-peasy recipe. Check it out after the jump! (more…)
Holiday philosophy.
November 24th, 2009 by CatherineHave you noticed that with the holidays come an infusion of lovely aromas in the air? I notice this particularly while I’m running, but even the shortest trips outside can fill me with holiday spirit. Wood burning fires, holiday baking, even the scent of laundry (maybe because I would always bring my wash home with me from college?) reminds me of happy holidays. So it’s with that scent-iment that I always switch up my shower products when the holidays arrive. My top pick this year? philosophy’s pumpkin spice muffin shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath. Infused with yummy-smelling scents, it’s an immediate spirit-lifter for cold winter mornings. Plus, it’s rich with hydrating ingredients (like squalene, an over-achieving “super sealant” for your skin) to keep my winter-dry body super moisturized. Who doesn’t love starting (or ending!) your day with a sweet-smelling bubbly wash?

Daily Diamond: Mellow yellow.
November 23rd, 2009 by Ruth

Crystal and Pearl Bow Necklace by Gerard Yosca, $413, ChainandCharm.com
Splash some sunny colors into this season’s drab shades with a little bit of mellow yellow. As seen in In Touch earlier this month, celebrities such as Emma Watson and Malin Akerman are pairing sunny dresses with black opaque tights and adding bright splashes of the mood-lifting color with jewelry.
We uncovered Charm and Chain, a web site catering to the accessory obsessed stylista with fashionable finds suitable for every budget. Founder Alexandra Galgano, curates the collection with the Alexis Bittars and Erickson Beamons of the world, but also has a knack for uncovering the rising stars.
We absolutely love the above Gerard Yosca necklace. In line with the J.Crew style, this necklace offers a hint of mustard with accents of black shimmer and clear sparkle.

The new Brooklyn vintage.
November 23rd, 2009 by Ruth
Headquartered in the heart of happening Brooklyn, Brooklyn Oenology (BOE) is stationed at the edge of the Williamsburgh and Greenpoint neighborhoods. Bringing New York, Long Island, Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland (coming soon to New Jersey and Connecticut) homegrown wines and art from the BK, these award winning vintages are all under $20!
Incorporating the Brooklyn spirit into the wine, the bottles showcase contemporary works of art created by people living and working in the area. As the vintage changes, so does the artwork, which is consistently shown at local galleries.
So go ahead, grab yourself an affordable slice of the artisanal movement and enjoy!
Hulu (.com) hoop.
November 20th, 2009 by Ruth
This weekend, watch any episode from any TV network than you can possibly imagine. With less commercials than the episodes found on the network’s web site, Hulu.com is a free service with live streaming videos. For those of you who are not down with techy lingo (me included), that means that there is no waiting to download the episode or use your computer’s valuable memory space.
Channeling your inner chicksate, Hulu is a FREE alternative to Blockbuster and Netflix, Hulu.com allows you to watch the missed episodes or revisit oldies. My favorite application is the movie feature. I can catch those old flicks such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or finally find out what all the True Blood hoopla is all about.
Now this is chic thinking!
Daily Diamond: Onyx Candle by Sage.
November 20th, 2009 by Catherine
I won’t discriminate against most candles, but every now and then one comes along that just knocks my socks off. Sage’s Onyx Candle does just that every single time I light it. Made with a blend of vanilla and coconut, it’s not overpoweringly sweet since it’s also infused with the scent of tobacco and oakmoss. Check it out here for $58.00.
The Sartorialist – The Art of the Burberry Trench.
November 20th, 2009 by Ruth

While perusing through The Sartorialist, I found that Scott Schuman brought my love of the trench to life with his portraits. With the tortious shell glasses and serious look on his face, the man looks incredibly sexy and mysterious while bundled up in his trench. Not only do I want to know what he’s thinking, but I want to know where he’s off to. Is it a poetry reading or a business lunch?
With her boyfriend rolled jeans, stunning leather shoes, and wind blown hair, the girl carrying the potted lillies strikes my interest. She is fashion forward yet there’s a little bit of a chicskate in her as she’s buying a potted plant, looking for the flowers to bring her happiness for a period of time longer than fresh cut flowers.
I appreciate Scott’s love for fashion and his ability to bring the personality of the chic trench to life.
