America the great.

November 19th, 2009 by Ruth

According to last Thursday’s New York Times Style Section, there’s a new reliance on old-school American brands such as Filson, Orvis and L.L. Bean. Apparently, city and country men and women alike are finding the chicskate within themselves and resorting to affordable and durable classics. Check out our favorite picks below.

This holiday season, velvet is making a comeback. Whether you incorporate the chic fabric into your style via skinny pants, cropped jackets or shoes, make sure that the dreamy texture makes a guest appearance.
While a little out of my price range, I’m dreaming of wrapping my tootsies in these yummmy Miu Mius. Adorned with an adorable bow, the soft rounded toe is comfortable for parties where you’ll be on your feet all night and will complement any look.
‘Tis the season to dream a little dream!

Jimmy Choo Redo.

November 19th, 2009 by Catherine

If you missed your chance to shop the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection this weekend, some good news came through for New Yorkers! Three stores (34th and Seventh, Herald Square and 51st and Fifth) will be restocked with all those coveted items you missed out on. So if you’ve got the energy to fight for your right to Choos, you better hurry! This is likely the last time items will be brought back for another go-round.

Giving thanks to Spanx.

I don’t know about you Chic Thrills readers, but I’m planning on letting loose on Thanksgiving and eating. A lot. Sure, I pay attention to the expert advice on portion control, calories, and other buzz-killing reports, but I’m also not about to pass up 1 of 2 days per year I get to feast on yummy, not-the-best-for-you foods. How about we all relax a little bit, treat ourselves to one extra helping of stuffing, and vow to eat right 363 days of the year so we can enjoy all there is to eat on the holidays? Deal?

That said, I’m not down with the stomach pooch that comes with all this treating. And while I’m certainly not denouncing the miracle of Spanx, I prefer not to feel like a sausage when I’ve overindulged at holiday gatherings. Thankfully, there are a ton of figure-forgiving dresses available for me to look my best (while concealing that slice of pumpkin pie).
