A few nights ago while my boyfriend and I we were snacking on Vosges’s Caramel Toffee – Caramel Marshmallows, it dawned on my boyfriend that next he wanted to try their Bacon Caramel Toffee. Because I’m a vegetarian, I can’t enjoy this gourmet comfort food. However, the holidays, his birthday and Valentine’s Day will be here before I know it. That said, I made a mental note to investigate.

To my surprise, I came across Sir Francis Bacon Brittle while digging around in the New York Times gift guide. Available at Dean & DeLuca stores or on baconpeanutbrittle.com, three ounces go for $6 and eight ounces for $16; eight ounces for $15.95 plus shipping from baconpeanutbrittle.com. While a little on the expensive side for chocolates, I plan to scoop them up. I know he’ll be super appreciate and love them.

Although I would never consider myself a pro, I really enjoy photography. I’ve been known to whip out my old-school Polaroid, begged for Photoshop one year for Christmas, and even dated a photographer. But when it comes to buying and shopping for photos (or even art), the experience can be very overwhelming, not to mention expensive! That’s why I’ve come to love 20×200, a site that offers limited-edition art at low prices. Each week, the site introduces two new pieces: one photo and one work on paper, with most images available in three sizes. When the site first launched, the smallest size was reprinted in the largest batch – an edition of 200 – and sold at the lowest price – $20. Since then, the company has grown to offer prints of all sizes and costs, with a little something for everyone (and every budget).
