Flannel Revival.

1354_5097_406Like most chicks who grew up during the 80s and 90s, I had a major thing for My So-Called Life. There was just something about that show that struck a chord with me – the angst, the crushes, the style – and I’ve never forgotten how understood I felt just by watching every Thursday night. And just how cool were Angela’s flannel shirts and oversized sweaters? And those Doc Martens! I thought I’d die if I couldn’t get the same ones that Rayanne wore. Despite attending a school with a strict dress code, I did everything in my power to get by with the only style for me, thus, I dressed like a homeless person for much of 1994.

The show has long been gone (has anyone figured out why it was ever cancelled?!), but suddenly I’ve noticed a resurgence of flannel shirts. Perhaps it’s tribute to the show that helped many of us deal with our teenage problems? Whatever the case, I’m seriously digging the latest styles emerging from designers high and low alike. What do you think of my top pick from American Eagle? It’s perfectly tailored, with just a hint of that 90s grunge I loved so much. And at $39.50, it’s a shirt I’m willing to spring for. Even if there’s no chance of Jordan Catalano coming back.
