If you caught our Daily Diamond earlier this week, you would have met The World’s Best Cookie, according to the W Hotel’s Store. Well, as much as I love cookies, especially when they’re apparently “the best”, I’m not willing to shell out $30 every time I want a treat. I’ll never stop looking for ways to save money without really noticing a pinch. What better way to achieve my dreams (vacations, good food, great shoes!) than to cut back here and there for long-term benefits. I caught a great article from WalletPop on ways to save utilities, which seem to sneakily add up when I’m not paying close attention. I once got a bill for $300 for one month alone on my teeny-tiny apartment! Read on to find my favorite tips below, and feel free to chime in with some of your own suggestions!

1. Don’t put lamps or TVs near your air-conditioning thermostat. The heat from these appliances affects readings, causing the thermostat to work overtime to adjust temperatures.

2. Keep all lights and light bulbs dust-free to ensure light output isn’t affected.

3. Choosing new appliances? On top of Energy-Star products, check out the latest Water-Sense appliances, which combined can save you as much as 50% on your home energy bills.
