To get the skin you want (fewer wrinkles, no more pimples, added brightness perhaps?), it sometimes takes a little trial and error in the bathroom. In my own experience, some products have left my skin greasy, while others don’t live up to their promises, but once I’ve found a wonder item, I stick with it loyally. There’s one product in particular that I’ll never break up with - flaws no more® r3p cream, an intensive moisturizer that makes my skin look unbelievably good. Created by skin care guru Dr. Brandt, it’s become my absolute go-to product night after night to help prevent premature aging and plump up the little wrinkles I’ve got. And because it’s formulated with polypeptides and Vitamins A, C, and E, my skin is nourished to the point it looks, well, flawless when I wake up in the morning. Priced at $125, it’s a luxury that I’m careful to use sparingly, but will never live without!

September 18th, 2009 by CatherineSmoking Cessation: Not on The Sartorialist (or in NYC)
September 18th, 2009 by RuthAs one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Design Influencers, The Sartorialist shares portraits of various travelers and fellow New Yorkers wearing fashionable frocks all across the island. For years, I’ve followed Scott Shuman’s adventures and admired his subjects’ creativity and freedom of expression. However, after logging on and seeing his September 2009 collection, the one prominent trend I noticed was –cigarettes.
According to the American Lung Association, smoking-related diseases claim an estimated 430,700 American lives each year. Smoking costs the United States approximately $97.2 billion each year in health-care costs and lost productivity. It is directly responsible for 87 percent of lung cancer cases and causes most cases of emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

One smart initiative: Origins Recycling Program
September 18th, 2009 by CatherineEver since I was quite young, first learning about my impact on our environment, I’ve been incredibly conscious of my actions’ effect on the world we live in. As a modern-day nature lover, I’m careful about drinking as little bottled water I can, and to recycle everything I possibly can. Cosmetics containers, however, have always concerned me. What happens after I’ve rinsed them out and put them out for collection? Are they able to be recycled like other plastics I use?
The sad fact of the matter is that no, most cosmetics packaging isn’t able to be broken down because most centers aren’t able to handle the different types of materials used. Well, the folks at Origins must have recognized the global impact these products will eventually have, so they’ve launched a fantastic initiative to help change this. Simply bring in any brand’s empty container, and they’ll do the legwork for you! To learn more about the program, click here. Recycling never looked to glam!
