Sometimes I can get a little carried away on iTunes. I log on with a specific intention of purchasing a few new songs for my Pod and the next thing you know, I’ve run up a $40 bill on music I haven’t even sampled. Recently, I’ve using this fun site Blip.fm. It’s free to use and allows you to create playlists to share with other users and friends. Downloading the songs does cost money, but if you just want to jam out in your room or at work, Blip is like your own little personalized radio. Plus, it allows you to preview full tracks of a ton of songs, so when it is time to make a purchase, you know you’ll be buying something you already enjoy.

Music to my Ears

September 15th, 2009 by RuthAs the chill sets in, I warm my bones at my favorite museums. After spending four fabulous months in my beloved Florence, Italy, I came to have a deep love and understanding for the culture, language, food, and of course, the artwork. Lucky for me, I live in a metropolitan area packed with the fruits of the mighty Medici family. This season, I plan to savor every moment of the fall/winter season reliving my Florentine dream for free.
While the museums house more than works from the Renaissance, as I walk gallery to gallery, I transport myself to every church, piazza, and side street packed with stately statues from cities all over the world.
Not only do I get to see the “Head of a Smiling Young Woman” by Bronzino, but The Met hosts lectures on Raphael, The Renaissance, Rome, and Venice for much less than a flight across the Atlantic.
For $95, you can go on vacation anytime of the day, for an entire year by visiting the Museum, The Cloisters, and all special exhibitions.
You need this now.

Never having paid much attention to my brows before, I can’t stop keeping them in check now. What’s with my change of heart you wonder? It’s having known makeup artist/brow guru/world’s funniest and nicest man Brett Freedman. His line of cosmetics, Vanitymark, has stolen my heart, and I’m not sure I’ll ever get it back. I’m hooked! Without a doubt, each product was carefully created to deliver the very best results to keep women looking their very, very best. My absolute favorite part of his whole line? His Ultra-Brow Pencils. Formulated to glide on like a pencil and sets like a powder to keep my brows looking sharp all day long, which makes me feel so much more polished. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting this great man (whose hands have made up famous folks like Kate Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwyneth Paltrow), make sure you get those brows in shape or he’ll tackle them for you!
Think before you buy!

More often than I’d like to recall, I’ve bought something and found out later that it’s cheaper online. So annoying, yet up until recently, pretty unavoidable, unless I’ve had the time to scour the internet for better deals. I only just learned about this free service called FRU-CALL that eliminates these money mistakes like ones I’ve made in the past. It works by scanning the items’ barcode and running a quick search online to see if it’s available for less money. Simply create an account and be on your way! I’ve even bumped a friend off my speed dial list to make room for this one…
A tote for all seasons.
September 15th, 2009 by CatherineAs I get older, I tend to schlep more and more things around with me every day. Upon clearing out one purse, I found no fewer than 26 items, including a book, my Blackberry charger, more gum than humanly possible to chew and an old Starbucks gift card that hasn’t had money on it since there was snow on the ground.
But that won’t stop me from looking for the perfect, affordable tote bag to keep all my useless (but oh so necessary) things in one place. This one from Target has it all – ample room, pockets aplenty and enough style to take me from work in the morning to dinner out at night. Better still, it’s marked down from $44.99 to $15.74! Say what you will about a giant purse, I just can’t get enough of their practicality and function.
