I’ll drink to that!

78304_yel_bFor anyone who lives in a home without a lot of space, you’ll probably feel my pain on this subject. Sure, we make do, but it’s easy to get frustrated when you can’t fit all your belongings into one kitchen/bathroom/bedroom/broom closet. My first apartment had a whopping 5 cabinets to squeeze everything into, but I managed just fine with plastic cups and cutlery in place of permanent cabinet staples.

Now that I’m older (and decidedly more eco-friendly), I’ve made the switch from plastic garbage to more refined, multi-purpose kitchen accessories. My favorites? These diner-esque glasses from Anthropologie. I serve everything in them, from water to wine, beer to soda, and they work well with it all.  It also saves me a bundle on buying separate glassware for every beverage. Adding just a touch of whimsy any occasion, they tend to make everything a little fancier, too, even if it is me just sitting on the couch next to the boyfriend while he watches Sunday night football…which ends when, exactly?

Set of four Fleur de Lys Glasses available for $32 at Anthropologie stores nationwide and www.anthropologie.com.

A Real Simple Dinner.

September 10th, 2009 by Catherine

Does anyone really work a 9-to-5 job anymore? I can’t remember the last time I got home before 7:30, and it seems to me that this is the trend across most jobs. Not that I’m complaining – we should all be so thankful for the jobs we have right now. That said, getting home at 5:30 would mean I could eat earlier than 8 each night, since I’m utterly opposed to eating anything that comes frozen and marketed as convenient, which usually means over-salted and soggy.

Still, with money being tight and my taste buds forever demanding, I’m constantly on the hunt for quick, fresh, affordable dinners each weeknight. After browsing through October’s Real Simple, I was game to whip up their Spaghetti with Sweet Potatoes and Ricotta for dinner this week. It took me less than a half hour to make and was beyond delicious. Read on for the recipe and let me know if you get around to trying it yourself! (more…)

Revival by Candlelight.

product_Absolutely_Invisible_Candlelight_001_lI can’t stand caking my face in makeup, especially since I’m only in my 20s and don’t yet need full coverage. But then there are those days when my skin just doesn’t look alive enough to face the day, which is when I face a dilemma about correct facial products to use. Foundation feels suffocating, but sometimes concealer isn’t enough.

And then I met Candlelight by Too Faced and concerns over what to do vanished. The lightweight powder transformed my skin from blah to yowza in just a couple of strokes, leaving my skin much more revived-looking. My absolute favorite thing about the powder, though, is how I can’t even feel it when it’s on. Bye, bye, cake face! Hellooooo, flawless chic!
