Best foot forward.

September 9th, 2009 by Catherine

I’ve committed myself to a marathon this November and am already logging in lots of extra miles in preparation. Well, as I’ve quickly found out, extra miles mean extra problems for my feet. With the added abuse and colder weather, I’ve found my skin to crack more and generally look less attractive. I’m also not okay with this, so I’ve made sure to stock up on the very best (and affordable!) foot creams on the market to keep my feet in top condition. Below are my top three contenders, all for under $12 here.

Bello Bolero Jacket

Picture 6Lucky for my bank account, the latest fall fashions have not tickled my fancy but this gorgeous Bolero Jacket from Top Shop did the trick. Recently added to my short Hanukkah list, this embellished jacket with lush colored sequins, has started my must-have list. Green with envy and passionate with purple, this proper cropped jacket is the final touch to a laid back pair of skinny jeans and plain tank. For $240, I will feel like a million bucks this season.

On the hunt.

925354_fpx.tifIf you’ve ever been caught in the rain and ruined a pair of shoes, you’ll feel my pain when I recount the loss of my favorite pair of suede boots in the fall of 2007. Perfectly slouchy and as comfortable as a pair of slippers, these boots were my go-to pair for any occasion…until they died a horrible death in a monsoon-like storm that swept through Manhattan. Sigh.

I’ve since learned my lesson and will never take chances like that again having bought a pair of Hunter Rain Boots. An affectionate throwback to my childhood days when I used to wear wellie boots given to me by my British relatives, they’re such a cheerful alternative to soggy shoes on the rainiest of days. Besides, commuting to work is just a little more fun splashing through puddles, isn’t it?
