Are those freshly-baked cookies I smell?

August 21st, 2009 by Catherine

L_1145474That’s exactly what I thought when I was at my non-baker friend’s house last week. Turns out she was just burning this candle from Yankee Candle. Light, yet powerful enough to scent her whole lower floor, it smelled like Betty Crocker herself had wafted through the house. Some might argue that a Yankee Candle isn’t exactly a chic addition to your home, but I’m telling you, the scent alone makes up for their mass production.

Prefer to scent your home with something other than baked goods? There are 15 other scents to choose from the Beanswax collection, Yankee Candle’s 100% soy wax (read: cleaner-burning) collection. Available in three different sizes for under $25.

Peace Out, Pricey Perfume.

P221804_heroI’m a pretty big perfume fan, but I also get bored fast. Every season or so, I like to change up my scent; the problem is most perfumes seem to be staggeringly overpriced and outside my budget. Some perfumes are worth it, but others fall flat and I don’t want to be stuck with a fragrance I don’t like. This is where Sephora comes in. One Christmas, my sister bought me this incredibly fun gift: Sephora’s Scent Sampler. It’s a cute little kit with 10 samples of the most popular fragrances at the time of purchase, as well as a gift card to get one of those samples in full size. The whole kit is just $50, which is a steal when you consider the selection you get. It’s designed to be a gift, but when you can’t pick just one fragrance, get this for yourself.

Perfect Pairing at JcPenney’s.

One of the best things my mother ever taught me was to scour the racks at JCPenney. I grew up with the notion that steals and deals are right under my nose in this oldie but goodie – and boy, was she right!

Similar to Karl Lagerfeld, Matthew Williamson, Christian Siriano and other savvy designers, Charlotte Ronson made her chic designs available to a wider audience by pairing with Penney’s. Offering an edgy, flirty, and sophisticated look, the I HEART Ronson collection embodies the essence of a chic, downtown, city woman.

Easily interchangeable with your current wardrobe, the collection features tees, knit tops, blouses, sweaters, jeans, skirts, dresses, and jackets. Ranging from $15 for tees to $40-$65 for dresses and jackets, you can scoop them all up here.
